Career Readiness summit

are you career ready?

Career readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace, graduate or professional school, or wherever life takes you after Seton Hill University.  It also provides the foundation for lifelong career management.

What is the Career Readiness Summit?
The Career Readiness Summit is built around the eight career competencies that have been defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers as the skills most sought after in new college graduates.  The Career Readiness Summit provides an opportunity for students to attend educational programs and events focused on learning about each competency area and how to apply the knowledge they are learning in their personal and professional lives.  When a student completes all competency areas, the student will present their Summit Presentation at the Spring University Research Conference.  The presentation will demonstrate their achievement of the career competencies.

Who can participate in the Career Readiness Summit?

Any undergraduate student at Seton Hill University is welcome to participate in the program, work at their own pace, and complete the program by graduation.

What are the benefits?

There are several benefits such as the flexibility to choose how you complete each competency area, the ability to work at your own pace, a notation on your transcript for completing the program, a certificate awarded during the Spring Spotlight Awards program, and an honors cord to wear during your graduation ceremony.  You should also highlight your participation in this program on your resume, LinkedIn profile, digital portfolio, and talk about it during interviews.

How do I register to participate?

Please stop by the Career and Professional Development Center and a staff member will help you get started on your career readiness journey.

What will I need to do?

**Students who want to “fast track” their progress can satisfy one requirement for each competency area if they enroll in the one credit course SGS300 Skills for Professional Success.**
