Career Readiness summit

are you career ready?

Career readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace, graduate or professional school, or wherever life takes you after Seton Hill University.  It also provides the foundation for lifelong career management.

What is the Career Readiness Summit?
The Career Readiness Summit is built around the eight career competencies
that have been defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers as the skills most sought after in new college graduates.  The Career Readiness Summit provides an opportunity for students to attend educational programs and events focused on learning about each competency area and how to apply the knowledge they are learning in their personal and professional lives.  When students complete all career competency areas, they will design and deliver their  Career Readiness Summit Presentation.  The presentation will demonstrate their personal knowledge and application of the career competencies.

Who can participate in the Career Readiness Summit?

Any undergraduate student at Seton Hill University is welcome to participate in the program, work at their own pace, and complete the program by graduation.

What are the benefits?

In addition to enhancing their career readiness skills, there are several benefits. Students have the flexibility to choose how to complete each career competency area and the ability to work at their own pace. Once complete, students receive a notation on their transcript, a framed certificate, an honors cord, a digital badge, and a laptop sticker. The experience should also be highlighted on their resume, LinkedIn profile, digital portfolio, and talked about during interviews.

How do I register to participate?

Students can stop by  the Career and Professional Development Center and a staff member will help get them started on their career readiness journey to reach the summit!  Students can also reach out to Renee Starek (rstarek@setonhill.edu) or Heidi Schuman (hschuman@setonhill.edu)

What will I need to do?

**Students who want to “fast track” their progress can satisfy one requirement for each competency area if they enroll in the one credit course SGS300 Skills for Professional Success.**
