Career readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace, graduate or professional school, or wherever life takes you after Seton Hill University. It also provides the foundation for lifelong career management.
Any undergraduate student at Seton Hill University is welcome to participate in the program, work at their own pace, and complete the program by graduation.
In addition to enhancing their career readiness skills, there are several benefits. Students have the flexibility to choose how to complete each career competency area and the ability to work at their own pace. Once complete, students receive a notation on their transcript, a framed certificate, an honors cord, a digital badge, and a laptop sticker. The experience should also be highlighted on their resume, LinkedIn profile, digital portfolio, and talked about during interviews.
Students can stop by the Career and Professional Development Center and a staff member will help get them started on their career readiness journey to reach the summit! Students can also reach out to Renee Starek (rstarek@setonhill.edu) or Heidi Schuman (hschuman@setonhill.edu)
You need to complete two requirements for each of the 8 competency areas.
Communication Equity & Inclusion
Leadership Technology
Professionalism Teamwork
Critical Thinking Career & Self-Development
Track your progress through Canvas. Students can directly submit completed requirements through Canvas. Students can also opt to drop off their completed guidebook or meet with a CPDC staff member to have requirements entered into Canvas for them.
Design your Summit Presentation and present it at the University Research Conference. (Arrangements can easily be made to present at another time if needed)
**Students who want to “fast track” their progress can satisfy one requirement for each competency area if they enroll in the one credit course SGS300 Skills for Professional Success.**
