WHAT IS CAREER READINESS?
Career readiness is the foundation of essential competencies that prepare college students for success in the workplace, graduate/professional school, and beyond. It also supports lifelong career growth and management.
WHAT IS THE CAREER READINESS SUMMIT?
Offered by the Career and Professional Development Center, the Career Readiness Summit is based on eight key competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Students attend programs and events focused on each competency, learning how to apply them in real-world contexts. Upon completion, students present what they’ve learned in a culminating Career Readiness Summit Presentation.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
All Seton Hill undergraduate students are encouraged to join and complete the program at their own pace before graduation.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Students gain career-ready skills and receive:
Transcript notation
Certificate of completion
Honors cord for graduation
Digital badge for social media
Laptop sticker
HOW DO STUDENTS TRACK PROGRESS?
Progress is tracked in Canvas.
HOW DO STUDENTS COMPLETE THE PROGRAM?
Fulfill two requirements for each career competency.
Create and deliver a Career Readiness Summit Presentation—typically during the University Research Conference (alternate times available).
Sample presentations are available at the CPDC.
Students who want to “fast track” their progress can satisfy one requirement for each competency area if they enroll in the one credit course SGS300 Skills for Professional Success.
